Rebuild the Studio Project:

I need your help.

My studio flooded in a recent storm and most of my equipment has been damaged, or completely ruined. I am working as quickly as I can to rebuild my studio so that I can keep making more mugs, and stay connected to the amazing disability community that I’ve been so lucky to be a part of for the last several years. In order to fund some of the rebuilding process I am having a pre-release of Lucky Few mugs. You’ll notice two differences for this release. Firstly, I’ve chosen to raise my prices a few dollars on all of my products. Price increases are always a challenging decision for me, but I had already planned on this increase for the new year before the flood. I’ve been working so hard on polishing the overall quality of my work and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come, this price increase will allow me to continue to produce the highest quality pottery that I can. It will also aid in my ability to rebuild my studio. Secondly you’ll notice that the timeframe that your order will ship is extended. For pre-releases in the past I have tried very hard to get everything shipped between 7 and 12 weeks. Because I am working out of someone else’s studio the timeframe needs to be more flexible. I don’t have an estimate, but please know that will work as quickly as I can to get your order shipped to you. If you don’t want to wait so long between ordering and receiving your order please wait for future releases when I am back to my normal schedule. I so appreciate your patience and your support in this chaotic time.

This pre-release will be very large. If you are unable to purchase a mug but would still like to support my studio, consider telling your friends about it! The best way to share is on instagram! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A Bit About Myself…

Hi! My name is Moira and I am the owner and potter here at The Potter’s Clay. I live in the beautiful town of New Gloucester Maine with my husband of six years, Jordan, our son Miles and daughter Martha.

I was first introduced to the world of pottery my freshman year of college at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, where I graduated with a major in Fine Arts and minor in Psychology. I have since opened a small production studio from my home where I am able to continue learning and experimenting with this fine art form.

I love my role as wife, homemaker, and mom. It has inspired me to design practical and beautiful dishware and home accessories that are meant to be used on a daily basis.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing husband Jordan. He is a loan officer for a local Credit Union here in Maine, a Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast and an amazing dad to our babies.

Our son Miles is five years old and loves toy cars and books more than anything. He has Down syndrome and has taught us parents all about patience and what it means to love! My role as an advocate for all people with disabilities is a huge part of who I am.

Our daughter Martha is three years old and has enough energy to keep us all on our toes. She adores her big brother and never, ever, stops singing.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my website, and getting to know my family!

Why Pottery?

Because I am bad a painting. I’m kidding. Sort of. I went to college to study Psychology and had to take one art class to fulfill the requirements. I took pottery because I had never used a potters wheel before and thought it would be fun. I was so bad at it. By the end of the semester I had barely progressed at all. But instead of throwing in the towel I decided to take another class in it. I was still so bad, but slightly less incompetent by the end. But I was also obsessed. The ability to make art that could be used daily, art that could replace its plastic counterpart, was empowering. So I switched my major and never looked back.
